Alexander the Great was one of the great conquerors of the ancient world. Few have achieved what he achieved in his military genius and vast wealth, yet, he died at a very young age. Prior to his death, Alexander made three requests for his funeral: that the best doctors would walk alongside his burial procession; that there would be a large representation of his wealth present; and most importantly... that his hands would be dangling loose over the side of the platform where he lay. Why? He wanted the world to remember that everything we acquire, all the power we attain, the influence we have, all of the things we achieve in this life, ultimately, stays here. We leave empty-handed. Astounding wisdom, but wisdom that should remind us of what really matters. Wisdom that should cause us to pause and reflect on whether or not there are treasures in this life that do last. Join us today as we consider John's promise that Jesus is that treasure.
